JOB DESCRIPTION:
The lead therapist reports directly to the department manager/director and/or his/her designee. The lead therapist has responsibility for utilization and supervision of volunteers, students, support staff, assistants and therapists working in his/her area relating to the provision of physical, occupational, or speech therapy services. The lead therapist is responsible for interpretation/implementation of physician orders, provision of safe care to customers, protection of confidential information, professional communication, economic use of time/resources, and creation of a positive work/therapy environment. The lead therapist is accountable for the daily operations of his/her unit and for implementation of program needs as determined by the manager/director.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
The lead therapist (PT) must be a graduate of a school of physical therapy that is approved by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education or the World Confederation of Physical Therapists. The therapist must be licensed by the Executive Council of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Examiners. Must present professional license prior to employment. CPR certification required.
The lead therapist (PT) must be knowledgeable of the principles and practice of occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech-language pathology. He/she must possess the ability to perform the technical skills of the physical therapist and be competent to operate the equipment utilized in his/her professional area. The lead therapist (PT) must be able to write and speak in a professional and intelligent manner and must demonstrate superior supervision/management skills. The lead therapist (PT) must comply with the CHRISTUS Spohn Health System policies, procedures, and standards of performance. He/she must also be willing to enforce those with his/her staff as requested by the manager/director. The lead therapist (PT) must be willing to assume additional responsibilities as requested.
